1. Who we are

#

TheComicChronicler.com (The Comic Chronicler) is operated by Ankit Cherian, an individual based in Connecticut ("we", "us"). We decide how the personal data described here is used. Contact: support@thecomicchronicler.com.

  • We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for targeted advertising. We do not collect, use or sell personal data to train large language models.
  • Your questions are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate answers. We use Google's paid service, under which Google does not use your prompts or answers to improve its products.
  • We use only cookies that the Service needs to work. Our analytics set no cookies.
  • You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data at any time.

Visitors who do not sign in. Your chat history is kept in your own browser (local storage), not on our servers. Your questions still travel to our servers and to Google's Gemini API so an answer can be generated, and we keep a usage count tied to a random anonymous ID.

4. How we use it

#
  • To answer your questions and show your chat history.
  • To run your account and paid plan, and to take payment and send billing emails through Stripe.
  • To enforce usage limits, prevent abuse and keep the Service secure, including rate limits based on your IP address.
  • To check that you meet the age requirement and to keep a record of what you agreed to.
  • To understand overall usage and performance with cookieless analytics, so we can fix problems.
  • To respond to support requests and meet legal and tax obligations.

We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based on automated processing or profiling.

5. Who we share it with

6. AI and training

#

We do not collect, use or sell personal data to train large language models. We send your questions to Google's Gemini API under Google's paid-service terms. Under those terms, Google does not use prompts or responses to improve its products. We do not use your questions or answers to train any model.

7. Cookies and similar technology

Do Not Track and cross-site tracking. We do not track you across other websites, and we do not allow third parties to collect personal information about your activity over time and across different websites through our Service. Because of that, the Service works the same way whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of; if that ever changes, we will honour opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control.

8. How long we keep it

Our database provider keeps backups for a limited period, so deleted data may remain in a backup for a short time before it is overwritten.

9. Your rights and choices

#

You can ask us to:

  • confirm whether we process your personal data and give you access to it;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • delete your data;
  • give you a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • tell you which third parties we have sold data to (we have not sold any).

You can also opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising and profiling; we do none of these.

How to make a request. Email support@thecomicchronicler.com with the subject "Privacy request". You do not need an account to ask. If you have an account, send the request from the email address on the account so we can verify it; we may ask for more information to confirm your identity. You can also delete individual chats yourself at any time from the chat list. Signed-in members can download or delete all their data themselves on the Your data page.

We respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you within those 45 days, and we may take up to 45 more days. We do not charge for requests unless they are clearly unfounded or excessive.

Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer with the subject "Privacy appeal". We will respond within 60 days and explain our decision. If you are not satisfied with the result of your appeal, you can contact the Connecticut Attorney General at portal.ct.gov/ag.

Deleting a chat removes it and its messages from our database. Deep Research results linked to a deleted chat are removed when you delete your account or once they are 24 months old.

Deleting your account removes your account details, chats, Deep Research results, reading list, usage counts and subscription records from our database, and cancels any active subscription. We keep the acceptance records described in section 8, and Stripe keeps the payment records it is required to keep.

10. Age requirement and children

#

The Service is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has used the Service, we will delete their data. Parents or guardians who believe their child used the Service can email support@thecomicchronicler.com.

11. Security

#

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), limit access to production systems, and do not store passwords (sign-in is through Google). No system is perfectly secure.

If a breach happens. If a security breach exposes personal information, we will notify affected Connecticut residents without unreasonable delay, and no later than 60 days after we discover it, and we will notify the Connecticut Attorney General no later than we notify residents. We will notify residents of other states as their laws require.

12. Where the Service is offered

#

The Service is run from and hosted in the United States. It is not offered in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and sign-in, checkout and AI features are blocked there. If you live there and already have an account, you can still sign out, and you can email us to access or delete your data or cancel a subscription.

13. Changes to this policy

#

We will post any change here and update the "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we will tell you in the Service or by email before it takes effect and, where appropriate, ask you to accept the updated policy.
